Royal San Marco Hotel

Lovely and comfortable!

The location was perfect near San Marco Square and a 10 minutes short walk to Rialto bridge. Also a short walk from the gondola, water taxi and vaparetto pier. It was near all shopping neighborhoods! The morning breakfast was exceptional with a wide variety of food and coffee to enjoy! The servers were nice and polite. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and clean with beautiful decor. There was a closet in the room with a safe and two large windows. We requested a superior room but still the room was small. It is ok for a short stay. The property did have working air condition and clean towels at all times. The hotel staff was very helpful!

− We just had to ask for more shampoo and soap during our 3 day stay. The hotel is old which is understandable in an old city. It needed new carpeting in the hallways, on the above floors, but its nothing major to worry about.

− Klar — ich habe den positiven Punkt zur Lage natürlich eingebaut, ohne die Kritik abzuschwächen: Very Disappointing Stay Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was very disappointing. Overall, the room was extremely dirty and unhygienic, and we did not feel comfortable there at all. The walls were badly damaged, with paint peeling off in several places. The floor was also sticky, making it almost impossible to walk around comfortably without slippers. The room also looked significantly smaller in person than it did in the pictures. Although the bed linen appeared clean at first glance, it still gave us the impression that it was rather unhygienic. In general, the entire room looked unclean, poorly maintained, and neglected. What was especially unpleasant was the strong smell of cigarettes in the room. Even after airing it out extensively and using perfume and air freshener, the cigarette smell remained very noticeable. For non-smokers, this is simply unacceptable in a hotel room. We therefore contacted the reception to complain about the condition of the room and the strong cigarette smell. Unfortunately, our complaint was practically ignored. The receptionist told us that he would come to our room within half an hour to look at the situation, but he never came and no alternative solution was offered. We also found the staff to be very unfriendly and unhelpful. The only positive thing we can say about this hotel is its location. It is situated directly in the city center, which makes it very convenient for exploring the area and getting around. Overall, we unfortunately cannot recommend this hotel. For us, the biggest issues were the lack of cleanliness and hygiene, the strong cigarette smell, the poor condition of the room, and especially the way our complaint was handled.

Perfecto si priorizas ubicacion

La ubicación estaba genial, pegado a la plaza San Marco y a 5 minutos del puente de Rialto. El desayuno también muy bien. El personal muy amable.

− Las instalaciones están muy antiguas y sobre todo las puertas de las habitaciones hacen muchísimo ruido, nos despertábamos cada vez que los de las habitaciones de al lado entraban y salían. Se escuchaba todo como si estuvieran dentro de nuestra habitación…
