− Air conditioning was so unreliable that they have fans at the front desk for your room. Beds and pillows were not soft at all. They will often host private events in the roof top bar with no notice, which doesn’t allow guests to even enter for a drink or to see the view.

8.0I recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Baglioni and found it to be an excellent base for my conference trip. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from the Santa Maria Novella (SMN) train station and perfect if you are attending an event at the Fortezza da Basso conference center. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building filled with character. Our room was spacious and featured charming, classic decor that fit the Florentine atmosphere perfectly. The absolute highlight of the stay, however, was breakfast. The restaurant on the top floor offers a breathtaking panorama view of the city and the Duomo that you shouldn't miss. There were just a few minor drawbacks: the historic elevators are quite small and can require a bit of a wait, the street right outside the hotel can get a little dirty, and we noticed a slight, faint odor at the main entrance. That being said, these were minor details in an otherwise wonderful stay. I would happily return for the history and that incredible rooftop view!
